Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how Veterans Driving School, LLC ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information when you visit our website, enroll in a course, use the Attorney Portal, or contact us. It also explains the choices available to you.
Information we collect
Registration: legal name, email address, phone number, mailing address, date of birth, driver's license or DMV customer number, and the reason you are taking the course.
Identity verification: the government-issued photo ID you upload, the enrollment information used for your identity-check questions, your verification attempts, and the school's review records.
Course records: lessons and study time, quiz and exam responses and results, completion status, certificates, and records of the agreements and authorizations you accept.
Court and attorney information: court or case details and documents you provide, and the contact information of any recipient you authorize to receive your certificate.
Communications: contact-form messages, customer-support requests, and accommodation requests.
Payment: payments are processed by Stripe, a third-party payment provider. We do not store complete payment card numbers.
Technical information: IP address, device and browser information, and sign-in records, collected through the cookies and server logs that operate the service.
Attorney Portal: firm-account information and portal access records, for firms that use the portal.
How we use information
We use information to register students, process payments, verify identity, provide courses, record participation, issue certificates, and provide customer support. We also use information to deliver certificates to authorized recipients, operate the Attorney Portal, protect the platform, investigate suspected misuse, and improve our services. We maintain and disclose records as required by applicable law and Virginia DMV requirements.
We send only the messages needed to run your enrollment, such as sign-in links, course updates, support replies, and your certificate. We do not send promotional email.
How we share information
When you authorize it, we email your completion certificate, including the information shown on it, to the attorney or other recipient you select. If you authorize sharing through a participating firm's Attorney Portal, authorized users of that firm's account can retrieve the certificate there, and can also see your enrollment status: whether you have enrolled, how many lessons you have completed, and when you finished.
Attorney Portal access does not include uploaded photo IDs, security-question answers, detailed course activity, or underlying quiz and examination records.
For the eight-hour driver improvement clinic, we submit required completion information to Virginia DMV and provide records for required regulatory reviews or audits. We may also disclose information when authorized by the student or required by applicable law.
We use service providers to operate the platform: Railway for hosting and database storage, Stripe for payment processing, and Resend for email delivery. Each receives only the information needed to perform its service for us.
We do not sell your personal information.
Cookies
We use necessary cookies and similar technologies to support sign-in, security, and other essential website functions. We do not use third-party analytics or advertising cookies. Disabling cookies in your browser will prevent you from signing in to the course.
Data retention
We retain required eight-hour driver improvement clinic completion records for at least three years. Other information is retained as needed to provide our services, comply with applicable record-keeping requirements, resolve disputes, and protect the platform. Closing an account or requesting deletion does not automatically remove records we are legally required to retain.
In practice, a student's full record, including the uploaded photo ID, identity-verification records, course and exam records, certificates, and support history, is kept for three years after the last enrollment closes, then removed by a scheduled purge. Security logs follow the same schedule. Certificates saved in the Attorney Portal are removed with the student record.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards designed to protect personal information, including encrypted connections and access controls. Access is limited according to operational needs, and uploaded photo IDs are visible only to school staff reviewing identity. No internet service or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.
Your choices
You may update information where account settings permit or contact us to request a correction. Changes to verified identity information or issued certificates may require review. You may contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. Some records must be retained to meet legal or regulatory requirements.
You may change or withdraw a certificate recipient at any time before your certificate is issued. Withdrawing a firm's Attorney Portal authorization stops future portal access to your certificate; it cannot recall a certificate that has already been emailed.
Children
Our services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to us, please contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our services, practices, or legal requirements. We will post the revised policy with its effective date and provide additional notice or obtain consent when required by applicable law.
